Rachel Z Releases Joni Mitchell Tribute On Tour With Peter Gabriel

SOURCE: Published: 2002-11-01
Pianist Rachel Z returns with another outstanding trio date, Moon at the Window (Tone Center 4024, October 15 release), a collection of inspired jazz interpretations of Joni Mitchell tunes.

As with her acclaimed take on Wayne Shorters music (On The Milky Way Express, TC 4011) this set pays tribute to one of Rachels muses.

Joni is an artist whose song poems have been a life guide which helped me grow up and accept the duality of life, says Rachel. Shes a great artist and storyteller. For Moon at the Window Rachels trio features Montreal-based bassist Patricia Des Lauriers and up-and-coming New York-based drummer Bobbie Rae.

Rachel joins Peter Gabriels band for a 20+ city North American tour starting in November. Peter Gabriel is also one of my major influences and the only person for whom I would take a break from my solo career, says Z.
