Catie Curtis “...a folk-rock goddess"--The New Yorker

http://www.catiecurtis.com

Boston-based singer-songwriter, Catie's songs have been featured on Dawson's Creek, Felicity, Alias and Chicago Hope as well as several independent films. She's toured with Dar Williams, Mary Chapin Carpenter and as part of Lilith Fair. Catie has written about domestic violence, corporate greed, religion, homelessness, peace, and gay issues. Unlike artists whose careers are generated by one hit song. Curtis has garnered a fan base through word of mouth, without music industry hype.

She was recently awarded the 2005 International Songwriting Competition's Grand Prize for a song from the upcoming CD Long Night Moon which she co-wrote with Mark Erelli.

The song “People Look Around," is about social issues and Hurricane Katrina. It took top honors among 15,000 songs from 82 countries. Catie lives in the greater Boston, Massachusetts area with her partner and two daughters. This is an incredible and rare opportunity to see this amazing, inspirational artist in the Pacific Northwest.

Laura Love is not a household name.

http://www.lauralove.net

She has never had a hit record. She plays fewer than a hundred dates a year. And yet, she has thousands of fans throughout North America and Europe, Billboard Magazine continually includes her CDs on their annual top ten lists and the first gig she ever played on the East Coast was at Carnegie Hall.

She is an African-American funk bassist with an astonishing voice, who is greatly influenced by blues and bluegrass, jazz, folk, gospel, reggae and country.

Laura sometimes refers to her style as “folk-funk", “Afro-Celtic" or “hip-Alachian"

Jen Todd, Laura Love's bandmate, was a founding member of the legendary Seattle folk/pop band, 3 Track Mind. Laura was a fan of the band and was greatly impressed with Jen's songwriting, her powerful vocals and intricate guitar playing. As the Laura Love Duo, they are two incredible vocals, guitar, and laura's funky bass. This duet performance is riveting and quietly powerful.

Gene Tagaban is a captivating performer of combined Cherokee, Tlingit and Filipino ancestry.

Why are we doing this?

An estimated 900,000 Americans, and 40,000,000 people worldwide, are living with HIV/AIDS, with new infections and AIDS cases resurgent nationwide.

There are approximately 42,000 new infections in the U.S. each year.

Estimates of new infections indicate that 33% are attributable to heterosexual sex.

Racial and ethnic minorities are disproportionately affected by HIV/ AIDS with approximately 54% of new HIV infections among African Americans and 19% among Latinos. Women are estimated to account for 30% of new HIV infections and 25% of new AIDS cases. Young adults and teens are estimated to account for approximately 50% of new HIV infections. An estimated 42% to 59% of people living with HIV/AIDS are not receiving regular treatment and 25% to 33% do not know they are HIV- positive.

Evergreen AIDS Foundation, established in 1985 by a handful of volunteers, is now the largest community-based HIV/AIDS service organization in the region and a leader in providing support and outreach in rural areas, providing case management services, chore services, transportation, psychosocial support, mental health counseling, emergency financial assistance, prevention, community outreach and education.
