Portland, OR: Two days after Pink Martini's long-awaited third album “HEY EUGENE!" hits streets, the record drops in at an impressive #1 on Amazon.com. Additionally, “Hey Eugene!" is sweeping the charts, currently being reported at #30 on the Billboard 200 chart, #2 on the Top Independent Albums chart, #7 on the Tastemakers chart, #2 on the Top Jazz Albums chart, #4 on the Top Internet Albums and #8 on the Top Digital Albums chart. The Coalition of Independent Retailers (CIMS) also reported the album at #2 and AIMS (Alliance of Independent Media Stores) reported the album taking the #6 sales spot the week of May 20th, 2007.

Skyrocketing the demand for “Hey Eugene!" into retail outlets was a Pink Martini NPR Morning Edition performance and interview that aired on May 15, 2007. Pink Martini will be embarking on a nation-wide tour with live performances scheduled for Carnegie Hall in NYC on June 13, 2007 and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles September 14, 15 & 16, 2007. Media appearances include plans for the band to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman on June 14, 2007.

Pink Martini's debut album, 'Sympathique' and sophomore album, 'Hang on Little Tomato', were both released on the band's own independent label, Heinz Records and collectively have sold through Allegro / Nail Distribution over 700,000 copies in North America - an astonishing accomplishment for the Portland, Oregon based label that has consistently raised the bar for other independently released albums. Worldwide, the albums have collectively sold over 1.3 million copies.

John Brodie, Manager of Pink Martini, acknowledges the achievement: “We are continually amazed and grateful for Pink Martini's loyal fans who have followed and supported the band over many years. With the release of 'Hey Eugene!' and its chart positions, the band realizes how blessed they are to have such amazing, fabulous and committed fans nationwide. The band can't wait to hit the road in June and perform the new songs from “Hey Eugene!"

Delivered with sultry grace by lead singer China Forbes, “Hey Eugene!" is a twelve track sonic journey that travels the globe with uplifting songs of hope and beauty. The album shines throughout -- from the golden-era Hollywood melody of “Everywhere" to the French cabaret of “Ojala." “Hey Eugene!" a fan favorite at concerts for years, finally makes its recording debut as the album's title track and first single. The song “Hey Eugene!" was written by Forbes and is about a boy she met at a party who asked for her number and then never called.

Somewhere between a 1930s Cuban dance orchestra, a classical chamber music ensemble, a Brazilian marching street band and Japanese film noir is the 12-piece Pink Martini. Part language lesson, part Hollywood musical, the Portland, Oregon-based “little orchestra" was created in 1994 by Harvard-graduate Thomas M. Lauderdale to play at political fundraisers for progressive causes such as public broadcasting, clean water, libraries, civil rights and affordable housing.
