Canadian saxophonist Peter Van Huffel has been based out of New York City since the fall of 2002. His quintet has been working actively now for the last year in many of the city’s top jazz venues including the 55 Bar, the Cornelia St. Café and Niagara. They will be releasing their debut CD “On Common Ground" on April 5th, 2005 at the 55 Bar in New York. The show will run from 7pm to 9pm, there is no cover and CD's are only $10.

Peter's quintet features some of the most outstanding, original and innovative musicians in New York’s new talent pool: guitarist Scott DuBois who recently released his debut album featuring saxophonist David Liebman on the Soul Note label; Jesse Stacken, a brilliant young pianist who is currently working with a variety of up and coming musicians in New York and can be heard on composer Sherisse Rogers' debut CD featuring saxophone greats David Liebman, Donny McCaslin and Joel Frahm; bassist Michael Bates who has made a mark for himself on the New York scene with his band “Outside Sources" and who recently completed a very successful tour in Canada and recorded his second album for Pommerac records featuring trumpeter Kevin Turcotte; drummer Jeff Davis who can be heard all over New York and on a variety of exciting new albums featuring some of the top musicians from around the world; and leader Peter Van Huffel on alto and soprano saxophones.
