Pat Harbison Performs Two "Aebersold Project" Benefit Concerts in Des Moines Metro

Jazz trumpet player Pat Harbison will performing two concerts to help fund the Aebersold Project, a program of the Synergy Jazz Foundation. This program will provide scholarships to some twenty Des Moines-area student musicians to study at the renowned Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Camp in Louisville, Kentucky, the week of July 5-11. The first concert will be on Saturday, January 31 at Hoover High School, 4800 Aurora Avenue, at 7:30 pm. Harbison will be joined by three local jazz icons: organist Sam Salomone, drummer Rob Messer, and bassist Steve Charlson. Tickets, $10 for adults and $5 for students, are available at Rieman Music (515-262-0365), 4420 NE 46th Avenue, Des Moines.

On Monday, February 3, Harbison will be the featured soloist with the Des Moines Big Band at The Adventureland Inn (515-265-7321), 5091 NE 56th Street, Altoona, starting at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and are available at the door.

In addition, Harbison will be conducting Saturday and Monday workshops with Hoover and Meredith High School students. Harbison will also be attending the Community Jazz Center student jam session on Sunday starting at noon at Java Joe's (515-288-5282), located at 214 4th Street in downtown Des Moines.
