Amazing 'rewards' on offer from London's Hot Club, Le QuecumBar, in return for your pledge of support. New rewards added...
London’s premier Hot Club, Le QuecumBar, famed world over for being the Mecca of Gypsy Jazz launched its Kickstarter crowd-funding at the beginning of this week. The projects “dashboard" shows where links have been referred from, and Le QuecumBar has been overwhelmed with support from All About Jazz readers.

The crowdfunding project was established because of huge rental increases.

In an earlier press release, Steve Tennison, manager at Le Que said, “The increase in rent is a blow to a small independent music venue that only just manages to keep its head above the parapet. The increase places an enormous pressure upon us to get new people through the door, as well as returning customers. We’re having to think outside the box to become more forward thinking and progressive whilst retaining important traditions and relationships with the Sinti community who remain the Masters of this genre of music. This Kickstarter crowd-funding opportunity will see us hopefully gain new support and strengthen existing support with some exciting opportunities. We want to substantially invest in our food; it’s always been an issue delivering this from a domestic-style facility. We need to address this once and for all. As well as other material upgrades, improving the look and feel of Le Que, the successful crowd-funding will see a festival celebrating the music of top Gypsy swing artists being organised in London in 2016, a subsequent recording and album of this festival, the formation of a Gypsy jazz school, as well as providing a much needed budget for advertising ticketed events to ensure our musicians and bands get maximum exposure. It’s certainly ambitious project but I’m the luckiest manager with a committed team of staff, musicians and supporters to deliver this. We’re passionate and all believe so much in the original dream and we want to see the UK’s only original Hot Club succeed to continue showcasing music from around the world."

Steve added today, “we’ve been thoroughly overwhelmed by the generosity from All About Jazz readers; not only have they been pledging towards our goal of raising £35,000, they’ve also been emailing us offering other services and general messages of support, I'm totally surprised by the kindness shown, I feel humbled and honoured. Keeping up with the response to date has been a 24 hour job—but thoroughly worth the sleepless nights and gallons of caffeine! We still have a long way to go, with just 25 days remaining, and I am hoping that other readers see the importance of keeping this iconic and unique London jazz club going. As mentioned, the crowdfunding won’t be paying the rent. The identified projects detailed in our crowd funding plan, ensure long term stability that benefit customers, musicians and the community. Please support us, as there are generous awards matched against your pledge."

Le QuecumBar has until September 2nd to raise it’s goal of £35,000. If they fail to reach the specified amount, they do not receive a penny of the pledges. Get supporting this worthy cause!

Preserving the UK's temple of Jazz Manouche; Le QuecumBar is available on Kickstarter until September 2nd.
