The North East Florida Jazz Association (NEFJA) is celebrating their 25th anniversary by presenting a one-day Jazz Festival featuring some of the best national and local musicians on the jazz scene today. The Jazz Festival will be from 1:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at the Ormond Beach Center for the Performing Arts.

“For 25 years our mission has been to keep jazz alive in northeast Florida,” said NEFJA president Muriel McCoy. “This festival celebrates what we have been able to accomplish over the years. We’ve made live jazz accessible in our area by presenting almost 100 concerts showcasing some of the finest jazz musicians in the country and equally important, we’ve been able to provide 38 scholarships to some very talented students. These young people are the future of jazz.”

NEFJA’s 2012 Jazz Festival line-up includes Marcus Roberts, Jason Marsalis, Rodney Jordan, Wallace Roney, Antoine Roney, John "Lil John" Lumpkin, Doug Carn, TAEKO, Mercedes Beckman, Ray Callender, Kenny MacKenzie, Miguel Alvarado, Rob Whiting, Jay Messick, Lee & Sallie Quick, Juan Rolan and Daniel Rolan.

“We’ve got a great combination of nationally known recording artists and the best local jazz musicians,” said McCoy. “It’s going to be a magical day with non-stop music on two different stages.”

Tickets for NEFJA’s 25th Anniversary Jazz Festival are $45 for NEFJA members, $50 for non-members, and $20 for students with valid ID. They can be purchased in advance on the NEFJA website www.nefja.org , at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center (386) 676-3375, or at Aimee’s Hallmark in Palm Coast. A limited amount of tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the concert. The Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center is located at 399 North US 1 in Ormond Beach.

The North East Florida Jazz Association (NEFJA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the perpetuation, performance, preservation, and promotion of jazz.
