Marc Hoffman To Perform At Ashe Civic Center

Jazz composer/pianist returns for Ashe County Concert

Composer/pianist Marc Hoffman will perform on the the Ashe County Arts Council’s “Tickling The Ivories” concert of piano music in the Ashe County Civic Center in West Jefferson, this Saturday, September 8, beginning at 7.30 PM. Hoffman will perform several new, original jazz piano pieces on the concert. The September 8th concert will mark his fourth year performing on the “Tickling The Ivories”.

“I look forward to this concert every year,” Hoffman said, “and I am especially grateful to Jane Lonon, executive director of the Ashe County Arts Council for inviting me back this year.”

An established composer, vocalist and pianist, Marc Hoffman is known throughout North Carolina and beyond for his performances as a soloist and with his trio at festivals, corporate and private events, and other venues. He performs frequently at Ethos in Salisbury, NC and on October 16th will return to Childress Vineyards in Lexington, NC for the Music in the Vineyard series.

Marc's original concert, sacred and jazz pieces have been performed across the US, and in the UK, France and The Netherlands. He recently composed the score for the comedy feature film, “40 Fears”. A children's book, Sleep Little Child, based on an original lullaby was released by Virillion Music Publishing in 2010. A piano instructional book, Essential Worship Keyboard was released by Emerald Books in 2008.

“Tickling The Ivories” features a diverse repertoire from professional and student pianists. Advance tickets are available at the Ashe Arts Center or by phone: (336) 846-ARTS. About Marc Hoffman

Composer/pianist/vocalist Marc Hoffman received a bachelor's degree in composition from the North Carolina School of the Arts and studied film composition at USC. He also attended The Dartington International Summer School of Music in Devon, England. His composition teachers have included John Corigliano, Leo Arnaud, Neil Hefti, and Sherwood Shaffer. A member of BMI and the American Composer's Forum, he is also founder and artistic director of the Salisbury School of Music. He lives in Salisbury with is wife, Anne, and their daughter August.
