World class singer returns to NYC to make her New York jazz club debut!

BLUE NOTE NEW YORK (131 West 3rd Street, just off 6th Avenue) will present Tony Award winner and world class singer BETTY BUCKLEY in her New York jazz club debut for a weeklong engagement (May 30-June 4). Backed by Quintessence, her group of renowned musicians--Billy Drewes (reeds), Tony Marino (bass), Todd Reynolds (violin) and Dan Weiss (drums & percussion), led by her longtime musical director famed jazz pianist Kenny Werner--Ms. Buckley will use her immense talent as a storyteller to sing “musical portraits" that she and Mr. Werner have created throughout their 16-year partnership. The program will be a retrospective of the musical journey that this unique ensemble has traveled together, as well as the debut of new collaborations. “I am looking forward to performing with Kenny and my band at the prestigious Blue Note jazz club," notes Ms. Buckley.

BETTY BUCKLEY and QUINTESSENCE will play twelve shows Tuesday through Sunday (May 30 through June 4) with sets at 8PM and 10:30PM. There is a $40 cover charge at the tables ($10 minimum) and a $30 music charge at the bar (no minimum). The Blue Note is located at 131 West 3rd Street - just off 6th Avenue. BETTY BUCKLEY gave acclaimed performances in Sunset Boulevard, Carrie, Song & Dance, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, 1776 and Promises, Promises. She won a Tony Award for her performance as Grizabella in the Broadway production of Cats, and she starred on the London stage in Promises, Promises and Sunset Boulevard, earning an Olivier Award nomination for her work in the latter. Also a TV ("Eight Is Enough") and film (Tender Mercies, Carrie) star, the actress-singer devotes much of her time to concert appearances around the world. Her solo CD Stars and the Moon: Betty Buckley Live at the Donmar Warehouse, was nominated for a Grammy Award. Ms. Buckley was also seen on the final three seasons of the acclaimed HBO series “Oz," as well as in the Lincoln Center production of William Finn's Elegies: A Song Cycle.

KENNY WERNER's solo recordings include Beyond the Forest of Mirkwood and 298 Bridge Street In addition to Ms. Buckley, he has played with such jazz greats as Bob Brookmeyer, Ron Carter, Joe Williams, Chico Freeman, Sonny Fortune, Peter Erskine, John Abercrombie, Jackie Paris, Bobby McFerrin, Lee Konitz, Billy Hart, Marian McPartland, Joe Henderson, Tom Harrell, Gunther Schuller, Ed Blackwell, Paul Motian, John Scofield, Jack DeJohnette, Eddie Gomez, Dave Holland, Charlie Haden and Toots Thielemans.
