New Orleans Jazz Orchestra Celebrates 10th Anniversary At Carnegie Hall, 10/8

THE NEW ORLEANS JAZZ ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES 10 YEARS, ONE NIGHT AT NEW YORK CITY’S PRESTIGIOUS CARNEGIE HALL ON OCTOBER 8, 2012, 8:00 pm

This performance is part of a New Orleans concert series entitled THE NOJO 10, which celebrates the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra’s 10th anniversary with 10 signature Jazz events.

NEW ORLEANS, LA: Grammy Award-winning Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO) will perform at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage on October 8, 2012. In addition to the 18-person big band and Mayfield, the night will feature famed Jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, Season 10 American Idol finalists Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams, and the acclaimed Sphinx Virtuosi; other special guests will be announced soon. 10 Years, One Night is sponsored by Prudential Financial and the New Orleans Convention Visitors Bureau.

“This performance at Carnegie Hall is our opportunity to celebrate the 10th anniversary of NOJO while thanking – through music – the friends, neighbors and partners who have supported our city, culture and music before and, especially, since Hurricane Katrina, ” said Artistic Director Mayfield.

NOJO will also celebrate in their hometown with a series of local concerts and events beginning in September. Highlights will include collaborations with Ledisi, Shannon Powell and Cyril Neville, as well as an original Jazz score being created by Mayfield to honor literary legend Ernest Gaines.
