Los Angeles pianist and composer Scott Healy has teamed up with NYC guitarist and composer Glenn Alexander and released a quartet record from the vault. Recorded live in the studio to 2-track in New York in December, 1991, Northern Light features Kermit Driscoll on bass and Jeff Hirshfield on drums.
This record features the compositions of Scott and Glenn, and reflects the pacing, sound and style of much of the original jazz in the early 1990's. A melding of the free-flowing Downtown" style with more straight-ahead elements, Northern Light is primarily an acoustic date with a sprinkling of electronic keyboards and guitar effects.
The record has been distributed digitally to iTunes and other services, and physical CD's are available directly from the website of Scott's new record label, Hudson City Records: hudsoncityrecords.com.
