An American drummer living in Iceland, Scott McLemore has a new album. “Remote Location" features a quintet of Icelandic musicians, including Sunna Gunnlaugs on piano, Óskar Guðjónsson (known for his work with Mezzoforte and Skúli Sverrison), guitarist Andrés Thor and bassist Róbert Thórhallsson.

The CD will be released on the Reykjavik Jazz Festival, August 28th, but until then it is available for pre-order exclusively from Bandcamp, including an immediate download of the album and a 5 page pdf of extended liner notes. The first 50 pre-orders will also receive a free download of McLemore's debut album “Found Music" from 2006 with the talents of Tony Malaby, Ben Monder and Ben Street.

The title track “Remote Location" is a reference to the drummer's home of seven years, and the homesickness that goes along with being a transplant. The other compositions are named for places and people that inspired him (the closing piece is a tribute to the late Paul Motian), and there's even a duet with his wife Gunnlaugs about their cooking together.

Taken together they paint a picture with amazing variation, yet sewn from the same aesthetic thread.
