First Name Dutch Jazz & World Meeting Announced

Today Music Center the Netherlands announced the first names of the showcase program of the second Dutch Jazz & World Meeting, which takes place in Amsterdam October 5 & 6, 2012.

26 Contemporary jazz and world music acts from the Netherlands will present themselves to both national and international music professionals.

First names

Jazz: a.o. Royal Improvisers Orchestra, PumpOrgan, Hybrid 10tet, Testimoni and VPRO/Boy Edgar Prize 2012 winner Yuri Honing

World: a.o. Baraná Elektro Shaman, the Nordanians, Boi Akih, Jungle by Night, Parne Gadje

The showcase program of the second Dutch Jazz & World Meeting has been selected by two independent curators: Michelle Kuypers (North Sea Jazz and Mojo Concerts) and Wim Westerveld (Music Meeting and Chazz Agency).

Details of the full program (26 acts) will be announced soon on the website.

Conference

During the daytime on October 5 and October 6, a seminar program will examine urgent trends in the international jazz and world scene. These specialist meetings will take place in the Conservatorium of Amsterdam. Keynote speeches on jazz and world will be presented by renowned experts.

In addition, Dutch impresarios, bookers and acts will be presenting themselves at the combined jazz and world Information Market. Speed date sessions and trade dinners will additionally optimize your DJWM experience.

Dutch Jazz & World Meeting

The Dutch Jazz & World Meeting is a biannual event promoting Dutch jazz and world music internationally. This communal platform for jazz and world music is intended for both international professionals as well as everyone in the Netherlands professionally involved with jazz and world music. The Dutch Jazz & World Meeting 2012 is organized by the Music Center The Netherlands in cooperation with Bimhuis Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ and Conservfatory Amsterdam.
