Southport Melodic Jazz Presents The Leon Greening Quintet and The Liane Carroll Trio The Royal Clifton Hotel on May 13th

Expectations across England's North West are rising as this year’s Southport Jazz Festival launch approaches and Southport Melodic Jazz are once again putting on two concerts at their usual venue, The Royal Clifton Hotel, on Sunday 13th May.

At 2pm, hard swinging pianist Leon Greening will be playing music from his debut CD Cookin' in Brooklyn along with a sizzling line up of Alex Garnett on sax, Martin Shaw on trumpet, Michael Janisch on double bass and Steve Brown on drums. Tickets are £15 and can be purchased on the door or in advance from SMJ on 01704 541790.

In the evening, vocalist,pianist,composer,arranger and consummate musician Liane Carroll brings her elite trio to Southport. On her last visit, the Club had its biggest audience ever. Liane has gathered awards and accolades from within and without the jazz world during her career bringing her own unique style to their songs and her own soulful, eclectic compositions. Her husband, Roger Carey will be accompanying her on bass guitar and Mark Fletcher on drums. The concert starts at 8pm and tickets are £15 from SMJ on 01704 541790 or £28 for tickets to both concerts.

Both concerts will be in the Windsor Suite at The Royal Clifton Hotel, The Promenade, Southport, PR8 1RB, doors open half an hour before the performances.
