Spring will be a little warmer this year. The hot flute sounds of legendary “First Lady Of Flute" Bobbi Humphrey will resonate the walls of Saint Peters Church on April 14, 2012.

In celebration of her 40th anniversary in Jazz, she has been selected as the 2012 honoree of the INTERNATIONAL WOMEN IN JAZZ FESTIVAL. She will also headline the festival with an hour-long concert starting at 8p.m.

Ms Humphrey, world renown for her soaring, sultry, sometimes fiery flute sounds on recordings and concert halls globally, is also noted locally for her community activism throughout her career.Since arriving in NYC in 1971, with little more than her flute, four hundred dollars, and her faith, Bobbi Humphrey went on to become the first female signed to the Blue Note Records label, a number one commercially selling female instrumentalist, a Grammy nominee, music publisher, manager, producer, and now C.E.O. of PARADISE SOUNDS RECORDS. She has also recorded with others as LEE MORGAN ( “The Last Session"), STEVIE WONDER ( “Songs In The Key Of Life"), COMMON, GURU, and sampled by Hip-Hop royalty. Her numerous hits include “Harlem River Drive," “Chicago Damn," “Satin Doll," “Home-Made Jam," (please see bio at bobbihumphrey.net) and visit YouTube to hear her extensive catalog.
