GREATS OF THE UPPER WEST SIDE BENEFIT CLOSING EVENT OF UPPER WEST FEST On Sunday, May 14 at 7 PM, Harry Belafonte will host Jazz Greats of the Upper West Side, a special benefit concert for Symphony Space, located on Broadway and 95th Street. Honoring legendary percussionist and composer Max Roach, it will celebrate the talent of the many noted jazz musicians who live on the Upper West Side; artists include the Walter Blanding Jr. Quintet with saxophonists Ted Nash and Joe Temperley, bassist/vocalist Jay Leonhardt, pianist Richard Wyands, and renowned drummer Eddie Locke, flutist/saxophonist Lew Tabackin with saxophonist Mark Taylor and bass player Boris Kozlov, free jazz vocalist Jay Clayton, saxophonist Jerry Dodgion, virtuosic pianist Roger Kellaway, guitarists Peter Bernstein and Jack Wilkins and many others. The proceeds will benefit the diverse programming of Symphony Space. The event will be held in the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space. Regular tickets are $50 and $75. Conveniently located at 2537 Broadway at 95th Street, Symphony Space is easily accessible from the 96th Street and Broadway subway stop on the 1, 2, and 3 lines as well as the B and C subway trains, which stop at 96th Street and Central Park West. From the B or C walk (or transfer to M96 or M106 bus) west three blocks to Broadway, and then one block south.
