U.S. Supreme Court rejects Phil Spector's murder appeal
The U.S. Supreme Court said Tuesday that it would reject record producer Phil Spector's appeal of his murder conviction for fatally shooting actress Lana Clarkson in his Alhambra home nine years ago.
The court declined to hear his attorneys' argument that prosecutors had turned the trial judge into a government witness by using his statements in a multimedia presentation, among other challenges, the Associated Press reported.
A state appellate court upheld the conviction after hearing the same argument, and the California Supreme Court also declined to review the case.
Spector, 72, is serving 19 years to life after being convicted in his second trial, in 2009, on a second-degree murder charge in Clarkson's death. His first trial, in 2007, ended in a hung jury.
