Week of Grammy, New York gets back to Jazz

Published: 2012-02-17
Ted Nash Stan Kenton Centennial (Friday and Saturday) A big band composer and educator remembered for his pedantic progressivism—and for employing some of the great talents of the postwar era, like the alto saxophonist Lee Konitz, the arranger Bill Holman and the drummer Mel Lewis—Stan Kenton would have turned 100 this weekend.
