Hot young trumpeter from New Orleans, Duke Heitger, will join Philadelphia's Independence Hall Jazz Band at Jazz in Bridgewater in Bridgewater, New Jersey on Saturday, November 10 at 8:00 pm. The event is part of the new “Guest Horns" series within the program and is co-sponsored by the New Jersey Jazz Society.

Greatly influenced by the playing of young Louis Armstrong, Heitger leads his own band, The Steamboat Stompers, in New Orleans and plays and records with classic jazz bands throughout the country. Most recently he has appeared with Butch Thompson on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion program on public radio. He will combine trumpet talents with the IHJB's Jon-Erik Kellso in Bridgewater.

The Independence Hall Jazz Band, led by trombonist Doug Finke, recently completed a tour of the Mid-Atlantic and is now preparing for four days at the San Diego Thanksgiving Dixieland Jazz Festival.

Jazz in Bridgewater is presented at the Somerset County Vocational-Technical High School on Vogt Drive in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Tickets are $15. For tickets and directions, call John Graf at 908-526-8900 Ext 7219, or see the New Jersey Jazz Society website at www.njjs.org.
