ADELAIDE HALL centenary double CD.......update
More details regarding the ADELAIDE HALL centenary CD titled: ADELAIDE HALL....A CENTENARY CELEBRATION can now be found on the website: www.avidgroup.co.uk
The double CD contains over 150 minutes playing time and includes many of Miss Hall's recordings from 1927 - 1945.
Included are various rare previously unreleased tracks, including a German Theatre Promotional Record (1936) from the (Black and White) revue, which she was starring in with Albert Gaubier's Ballet Company. The record includes.... Truckin", Solitude" I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Baby", I Must Have That Man" and Diga Diga Do" with German introductions. Recorded in Berlin, in the summer of 1936, Adelaide's account, (included in the sleeve notes) of the hospitality she received from the German public after her fellow countryman Jesse Owens won his Gold Medal at the Olympics (that were being staged in the city during her visit) makes fascinating reading. Also included on the CD is an ENSA recording (1945), which includes Porgy", It's Been A Long, Long Time", Old Folks At Home" and My Heart Sings" - recorded to entertain the troops in Europe - and a live recording (1945) of Adelaide singing I'm Gonna Love That Guy....like he's never been loved before" with the British Band of the AEF..RAF.
