FUNK LEGEND TO BE HONORED AT BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC

Berklee College of Music has announced that Funk legend George Clinton will head to the venerated school to teach a four-day residency, perform a concert, and accept an honorary degree.

At the concert, which is set to take place February 16, Clinton will be presented with an honorary doctor of music degree in recognition of his significant and critical contribution to the musical and cultural landscape. With performances of stone P-Funk classics like “I Wanna Testify," “Mothership Connection" and others, the concert will pay tribute to Clinton's musical legacy. Clinton will be accompanied by longtime horn section players Greg Thomas and Bennie Cowan during the show.

Over the course of three days, February 13-16, Clinton will be visiting classes, interacting with students, and rehearsing with the Berklee P-Funk Ensemble.

George Clinton Meets Berklee takes place on Thursday, February 16, 8:15 p.m., at the Berklee Performance Center, 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston. General admission tickets are $20 and $15. Purchase tickets at berkleebpc.com, call 617 747-2261, or visit the BPC Box Office.
