Geri Allen, Esperanza Spalding, Terri Lyne Carrington at the Vanguard
Ms. Carrington, a veteran jazz drummer with a knack for literate funk, recently released “The Mosaic Project" (Concord), proudly featuring an all-female cast.
Among its most valuable players are Ms. Allen, a wise and adaptable pianist, and Ms. Spalding, a bassist and singer probably best known as the dark-horse standout of last year's Grammy Awards.
This will be an intergenerational summit, among other things, and because each of these artists is such a pluralist, there's no telling what ground will be covered.
