Pianist, composer, and bandleader Antonio Ciacca leads an intensive one-day jazz workshop at the Ford Piano Factory in Peekskill, NY on Saturday, October 1, 2011. Aimed at developing students' sight-reading, jazz theory, and improvisation skills in a fun and supportive environment, the workshop serves as the launch of a variety of jazz events in Peekskill.

Lessons begin at 11:00 a.m. and run until 4:00 p.m. The workshop is open to students of all ages and is free for all participants. As space is limited, participants are encouraged to register in advance.

That evening, Ciacca leads his band in the opening night of the music series Italian Jazz Days, which promotes the rich jazz history of Italy by showcasing Italian and Italian- American jazz artists in performances throughout New York. The event, also at the Ford Piano Factory, begins at 7:00 p.m. and will feature hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer, and music. Admission is $25.

A consummate artist with a multi-faceted career, Italian pianist Antonio Ciacca has emerged as a modern-day Renaissance Man of jazz: he tours internationally as a performing artist, curates cutting-edge jazz concerts at venues and festivals throughout the world, and trains the next generation of jazz leaders by teaching at the Juilliard School of Music. As a pianist, Ciacca has collaborated with such jazz luminaries as Benny Golson, Joe Lovano, Wynton Marsalis, and Steve Grossman, and he has recorded six albums as a bandleader. Ciacca's latest album, Lagos Blues (Motema Music), has received tremendous acclaim from both press and audiences since its release.
