Saxophonist Brian McCarthy to Play Concert in Greensboro, VT
Burlington-based saxophonist Brian McCarthy brings the New York jazz sound straight to Vermont, though regular performances at Burlington's Discover Jazz Festival and venues across the state. He'll play a special Greensboro concert at 7pm, Monday, August 1st, on the green of the Mountain View Country Club in Greensboro. Picnicking is allowed and encouraged.

. After spending six years in and around the city, McCarthy returned to Vermont where he continues to enrich the music community here, as a player and composer. He was recently featured on Vermont Public Radio and in the Burlington Free Press where music critics praised his 2011 self-titled debut album.
McCarthy is an exceptionally versatile player who can go from lyrical, to traditional to hard-hitting styles without batting an eye. He regularly plays with world-renowned trumpeter Ray Vega and Burlington's favorite groove ensemble, the Grippo Funk Band. You may have even heard him playing on Mike Gordon's (Phish) latest release Moss. At only 30 years old, he is also the new director of the St. Michael's College Jazz Ensemble. With his August 1st concert in Greensboro, McCarthy returns to his beloved Northeast Kingdom for this special outdoor event.
Brian McCarthy will be joined by his acclaimed Quartet featuring Tom Cleary on piano, Robinson Morse on bass, and Jeff Salisbury on drums. The performance celebrates McCarthy's 2011 critically-acclaimed debut album. Sevendays music critic Dan Bolles said the album “deserves a prominent place in the record stacks of local jazz aficionados."
