Keith Henry Brown, illustrator, writer and occasional contributor to AllAboutJazz.com campaign through Kickstarter is nearing an end. It will be concluded on June 16.

and Chico Hamiliton as well as his own incomparable recording efforts as a leader. Through colorful drawings, narrative and dialogue, Brown tells the story of his favorite musical artist. “I come from a comic book background and I also love jazz. It just makes sense for me to combine these things." Brown served as design director at Jazz at Lincoln Center from 2001-2004.

After making the rounds to several publishers, Brown decided to try to go it alone and publish it himself, with the hopes the project will be picked up by a small publishing house in the future.

Brown decided to try Kickstarter.com, a website that helps creatives fund their projects through donations.

“What's most important is to it get out there, that people get to see it. I'd especially like young people to get to know Eric. He's an inspiration to keep working hard and following your muse. He's certainly taught me to. It's been a real adventure trying to raise funds, but with a little luck, and some some enthusiastic Dolphy fans, we should have a good chance of making our goal.
