The Jeff Albert Quartet will perform Friday, January 20 at The Green Room (521 E. Boston St., Covington) at 10:00 PM. They will be performing music from Albert's new Lakefront Digital CD entitled One, as well as classic jazz compositions by Monk, Mingus, and Ornette Coleman, and not yet recorded original material.

This will be the group's second appearance at The Green Room, which is quickly emerging as a top-notch music venue on the Northshore. About The Green Room, Albert says, “it is a very cool space. They have art on the walls, and the vibe encourages creativity. The room is laid out in such a way that we can play acoustically, which allows the music to really breathe and develop organically. The people aren't a typical jazz crowd, they just dig good music, which is good. That leaves us totally open to play whatever comes to us."

Jeff's CD One has been well received worldwide. It has been featured on radio and in podcasts in the US, Germany and Japan. The track “Neon Monkey" is currently in the All About Jazz Daily Download Top 50 (all time) at www.allaboutjazz.com.

What people are saying:

“Jeff's recording is fun, and funny, and as directly connected to the progressive stream of jazz as any music you've heard recently. Jeff gets it"--John Snyder, Producer (Sun Ra, Ornette Coleman, Gerry Mulligan, Mel Lewis)

“Unreal, gorgeous, crazy, rudely alive"--David Biedny - Author

“Congrats on the new recording, Jeff! Nice band, you must be very happy. It's cool to hear you digging in with some real roots-trombone over the more modern settings--it makes for an interesting blend. Keep it up!"--Josh Roseman, Musician

“Trombone virtuoso Jeff Albert ... is known for his ability to jump from traditional to modern music without a hitch"--David Kunian, Gambit Weekly, May 24, 2005

“His compositions allow for an abundance of free improvisation while also embracing melodic cores and a range of rhythms ... with its lifting attitude, strong solos and ensemble work ... represents the best of what Albert and company have to offer"--Geraldine Wyckoff, offbeat Magazine, July 2005
