Scott Reeves
After years of writing for Dave Liebman's Big Band, the Westchester Jazz Orchestra, Bill Mobley's Smoke Big Band, the BMI Jazz Composers Orchestra and the Cecil's Big Band, trombonist/composer Scott Reeves fronts his own 16-piece jazz orchestra featuring some of the best jazz musicians in New York City. Reeves has forged an original compositional style which All About Jazz describes as “varied and substantial, ranging from hard bop and Latin oriented themes...to French impressionist influences. His arrangements are restless, full of color, and provide ample solo space...amidst variable underpinnings." Two of his arrangements for the Dave Liebman Big Band are featured on Lieb's new big band CD “As Always," with reviewers writing that “Reeves captures the essence of Liebman's compositions while expanding its instrumental depth and dynamic range" and “sophisticated in its floating form, the horn sections painting thick layers of color."

The performance is at the Tea Lounge, 837 Union St. in Brooklyn, New York on Monday, July 25, 2011, 9:00-11:30 p.m. No cover, but donation suggested.
