Grammy Winner Cheryl Bentyne of The Manhattan Transfer to Host New Weekly Radio Show

LOS ANGELES, CA—Paul Goldstein, Founder of the new jazz radio station, The Jazz Groove announced today that acclaimed artist Cheryl Bentyne of The Manhattan Transfer will host “The Cheryl Bentyne Show" a weekly radio program airing Sundays from 7pm to 10pm PST, debuting this coming Sunday, June 12th.

The three hour program will feature Bentyne's exclusive interviews with straight ahead jazz artists as well as her unique commentary and insight. Those talk elements will be blended in a commercial free, music intensive format showcasing an elegant mix of jazz from artists such as Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Joshua Redman, Chet Baker, Brad Mehldau, Bentyne herself and her group The Manhattan Transfer along with hundreds of other classic and contemporary artists.

“I've wanted to host my own radio show for awhile so to do it on a station that is showcasing the crème de la crème of jazz including a lot of material from the Great American songbook seemed like an easy decision to make" Bentyne commented. “Selecting three hours worth of material a week isn't easy with so much to choose from but I'm having a blast re-listening to recordings I haven't spent time with in years. Plus, I'm on the road often, connecting with many other artists on airplanes and in venues and hotels all over the world, so I'm carrying with me a recording device to capture interviews where and whenever they may happen spontaneously. We'll begin playing back some of them as the show evolves."

“Cheryl and I talked about her hosting a show so we went into a studio and recorded some material. I was blown away at how captivating she sounded" said Paul Goldstein. “I knew she would be good but my expectations were far surpassed. She's worked with almost everyone who's anyone in jazz. With more than three decades of experience recording and touring her insider point of view as an artist coupled with her upbeat, vivacious personality make this show a must listen for anyone who loves jazz or wants to learn more about it"

The Jazz Groove is a commercial-free straight-ahead jazz station specializing in elegant jazz from artists covering six decades of music. The listener-supported station is available free of charge online.
