"Kuhl has himself up in the mix and is an ever-present force" —All About Jazz

“Drummer-composer Tim Kuhl purveys a mix of earthy groove and spacious, subtly emotive melody." —Time Out NY

“Kuhl shows that he is an avant-garde performer who goes where other composers fear to tread." —Jazz Review

One of the most creative artists in the Brooklyn, New York music scene is drummer / composer Tim Kuhl. Doomsayer is Kuhl's third release as a leader. Featuring a host of notable downtown improvisers, the ensemble dive, twist and turn through a sound collage of texture, shape and color. Kuhl has supported a who's who list of jazz artists from Josh Roseman, Frank Lacy, Tony Malaby, Michael Formanek, Jon Irabagon, John Hebert, and Brad Shepik, to name a few, and continues to show why he is the downtown drummer to keep an ear out for with this release. Doomsayer features Kuhl on drums and cymbals, Michael Formanek on bass, Ben Gerstein on trombone, Jonathan Goldberger on guitar, Frantz Loriot on viola, and Jonathan Moritz on saxophones.
