Roger Daltrey has revealed plans to tour the United States this fall for a special outing that will feature The Who frontman and his band preforming The Who's Tommy in its entirety. The tour will stop at Boston's Agganis Arena on Saturday, September 17.

On the tour, Daltrey and his band will perform The Who's legendary rock opera Tommy in its entirety from start to finish. Daltrey premiered the show at The Royal Albert Hall in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust on March 25 and is now taking it on the road to celebrate the acclaimed 1969 album, which The Who never actually played in sequence. In addition to Tommy, fans cam expect a set of Who classics and other material.

“Tommy, an album that tells a story about a 'deaf, dumb, and blind boy' who becomes the leader of a messianic movement, will always be seen as a turning point for the band, “ explained Daltrey in a press release. “Within it, I found the new voice of The Who and the band found its stride in making that music, adjusting it, using all that knowledge that we had from jazz and the blues into making it work in a rock way."

The tour does have the blessing of The Who guitarist Pete Townshend, who reportedly cannot join Daltrey on the road due to medical problems. “Great to see Roger performing Tommy with his band in 2011, “ Townshend said in a statement. “I will be there in spirit and Roger has my complete and most loving support. Roger is touring his unique concert version of Tommy using his faithful presentation of the original work as the backbone for a set of wider material. It is wonderful to hear the way Roger and his new band re-interpret the old Who songs."

Daltrey's touring band features Townshend's younger brother, Simon, on guitar, along with lead guitarist Frank Simes, bassist Jon Button, keyboardist Loren Gold and drummer Scott Deavours.
