One of the top songwriters, producers and performers in pop and gospel music over the past 20 years, Charlie Peacock is also a lifelong fan of jazz and improvised music whose earliest influences include such jazz legends as John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Carla Bley, and Andrew Hill. While Peacock has consistently pushed the boundaries of pop and gospel music by adding elements of alternative rock, dance music and jazz, he has never before delved into jazz as unabashedly and wholeheartedly as he does on Love Press Ex-Curio (September 20, Runway Records).
The GRAMMY Award-winning Peacock blends acoustic jazz with elements of pop and electronica on this fascinating disc and brings this exciting sound to the Jazz Standard on November 9. Love Press Ex-Curio (Love's Pressure Exhibits Curiosity) is Charlie's latest release in a multi-faceted recording career that began in 1983; his supporting cast of jazz luminaries on the CD includes Joey Baron, Ravi Coltrane, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Victor Wooten and Jeff Coffin (the latter pair from Bela Fleck & The Flecktones). Guitarist Marc Ribot has just been added to the lineup for this Jazz Standard one-nighter which also includes Felix Pastorius, son of the late bass giant Jaco Pastorius.
