ORIGINAL METERS TO PERFORM WITH DR. JOHN AT BONNAROO

In a post on their official Facebook page, The Funky Meters have announced the return of guitarist Brian Stoltz to the fold after a three- year absence. Read the full post below:

“It's official! After a three-plus-year absence from the funky Meters, Brian Stoltz has rejoined his long time band mates. After performing with Art, George and Russell at the 33rd Anniversary of New Orleans music club, Tipitina's in January. A sold-out show that was a celebration not only for Tipitina's, but for Stoltz and Art Neville as well. The two first performed together 30 years before at the famed club in September 1981 when Stoltz joined The Neville Brothers as guitarist.

Guided by the hand of Special Forces Commander, Art Neville, The funky Meters led the bouncing, wall-to-wall, floor-to-balcony crowd through a wide range of grooves, moods and funky, but intense improvisations, executed as seamlessly in the moment as the day this configuration last played in 2007. A set that would bring the band back together to take on 2011 in full force.

The band just returned from a three night, soldout run at the Brooklyn Bowl last week, which included special guests such as ?uestlove, Eric Krasno (Soulive), Nigel Hall, Adam Deitch (Lettuce) and Nikki Glaspie (Beyonce) all of which welcomed the band with open arms and helped bring the scorchin' funk to another level in their own way.

Look the funky METERS next in Austin, TX March 4, and Mobile, AL March 6, with New Zealand and Australia dates to follow in April. Check out all tourdates here. The funky METERS are back!

Joining forces with former bandmates doesn't stop there for Art and George. The two original Meters will join Zigaboo Modeliste and Leo Nocentelli for a set at the 10th Anniversary of Bonnaroo Music Festival June 9-12 in Manchester, TN. Being The Meters first time reuniting in over five years this is a show not to be missed. The band will back Dr. John to perform the legendary 1974 record Desitively Bonnaroo."
