Stix Hooper heralds another peak of global music and adds to his illustrious solo career, as he records in Austria, late September, 2005, with his very special international jazz trio.

The trio, recording at MG Sound Studios in Vienna, brings together Hooper along with world class, European pianist, Andre Kitaev, and American bassist, Al Criado. “Jazz is a wonderful freedom of expression,” Hooper says. “It is America's indigenous musical art form, it's the music culture we have contributed to the world and brings international unity. The merger of this art form,” he added, “with European influence, will result I hope, in a recording session that shapes the future of jazz and progressive music.” The Vienna recording is expected to be released in Spring, 2006.

Hooper is the founder of The Crusaders, a band that toured the world and sold millions of albums. He has received numerous Grammy nominations and other awards, both with the Crusaders and as a solo artist, including national, city and regional citations and honors. He is credited with creating the “jazz-funk style” of drumming. Hooper has been listed in Playboy and DownBeat reader’s polls as one of the world’s “top three drummers.” At this years Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, music critic, Don Heckman, stated, “...Hooper’s band, Viewpoint, set the bar high for what was to follow. Paced by Hooper‘s dynamic percussion work, the group moved easily and smoothly from brisk mainstream jazz to more propulsive grooves.”

Hooper‘s career has encompassed drums and percussion, vocals, record production, composition, arranging and other related facets of music and the arts. He has also produced, collaborated, and performed with other artists such as George Shearing, Henry Mancini, Quincy Jones, Marvin Gaye, Nancy Wilson, Joe Williams, Bill Cosby, B.B. King, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Arthur Fiedler & the Boston Pops and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
