All About Jazz Fund Drive 2011 Update

Dear friends of All About Jazz,

I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year and bring you up to speed on the All About Jazz fund drive and our plans for 2011 and beyond.

First off, we'd like to thank everyone who has made a donation (see our lists here here and here ). You've greatly inspired us with your generosity, but we need the support of many others like you if we're to reach our $50,000 goal.

Technology, unfortunately, does not come cheap and All About Jazz, though a small business, is an expensive web site to produce. We need to cover our monthly operating expenses and we need to invest in new software and hardware technologies to keep pace if we are to survive.

As the only jazz website that is built for fans and professionals alike, AAJ's potential is still great. Being around 15 years means we are not the new kid on the block, but the proven veteran—it also means we have a platform that has a significant impact on the music, and will continue to do so. One way to do this is to establishing a pathway to transmit all the jazz calendar information in the world through AAJ—dates that will ultimately reach you on your computer, on your iPad, or on your mobile phone. We also will build a video library and present all kinds of audio, from jazz story of the week" to streaming a few tracks from a musician's latest release. It all means great content, just as you've come to expect from AAJ, as well as fresh ideas.

A modest contribution will eventually pay you back in more ways than you can imagine, as we will continue to reinvest in the future of the website and the future of jazz. With your help, we will finally add critical technology and people to do this right. time marches on at an ever faster pace and we can't wait another year to take this step.
