Soulandjazz.com Presents: Continuum, A Journey Through Jazz

Hosted and Produced by J. Scott Fugate, “The Jazz Evangelist"

As always, the show is absolutely free, completely legal, fun for the whole family, and available to listen to anytime, anywhere, ad infinitum, right here: http://bit.ly/97N7st

This may be a bit late for your Labor Day pool or BBQ party . . . but I recorded it on Monday for a personal party of my own—and thus, by listening to it today or tomorrow you can extend the weekend well into the week and possibly extend your summer vacation as well . . . if only in your mind.

This show is a 'farewell to summer' Jazz-Funk throw down featuring a few of my favorite tracks from the past 19 years . . . songs I typically play when I'm driving, DJ'ing a party, or just feeling particularly funky. I seriously doubt that you can sit still whilst listening. In fact, I double dog dare you to stay perfectly still. Go ahead and try.

We start with a call for unity from the Groove Collective, followed by some vintage Acid Jazz from the UK's Brand New Heavies, Incognito, Blair, and the saxy Dutch bombshell, Candy Dulfer . . . continuing with some serious bass work by Brian Bromberg, and intensely funky rhythmic improvisations from the Brecker Brothers, Branford Marsalis' Buckshot LeFonque, and Outside . . . and we end the party with a bang by bringing to bear the brilliant bass work of Wayman Tisdale and Marcus Miller. The show ends with a little 'lagniappe,' leaving you with an extra funky track from a hard to find CD by the UK's Jazz Possee.

Think of this show as a mix tape I made just for you to play at your next party or road trip— and you won't even have to wait until next summer. Enjoy the ride! I always love to hear from you with any comments, questions or suggestions at [email protected].
