Toronto, Ontario (August 25th, 2010)—JAZZ.FM 91's 2010-2011 Sound of Jazz Concert Series returns! The 35th season features 10 special concerts, September 2010 through March 2011, at The Old Mill Inn, Toronto.

The season gets underway with two-time Grammy nominee Jacky Terrasson, who burst onto the jazz scene in 1993 after winning the Thelonious Monk Piano Competition. Berlin-born, Paris-raised and New York-based, our Sound of Jazz Concert Series stage is the next stop for this international master of the keys.

Trumpeter Jeremy Davenport contributes to the series' international flavour with, “A New Orleans Christmas." Just in time for the holidays, Davenport captures the unique and vibrant voice of New Orleans with a collection of seasonal favorites, decked in the blues, jazz and swing flavours the Crescent City is famous for.

Also this season, JAZZ.FM91 is pleased to announce a “Made in Canada" concert featuring Order of Canada recipients, Terry Clarke, Dave Young and Jane Bunnett, including the station's own Joe Sealy, host of Joe's Jazz heard Tuesday nights at 9PM.

Rounding out the 2010-2011 Sound of Jazz Concert Series are performances featuring Danny “B" who performs songs made famous by Ray Charles; The JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band with special guest Bucky Pizzarelli; Ian Shaw; The Steve Koven Trio; a tribute to Bill Evans with Brian Browne and Robi Botos; Kellylee Evans pays homage to Nina Simone; and closing the series in March, the duo of Dick Hyman and Peter Appleyard.

“The 35th Sound of Jazz Concert Series season is an exciting milestone for us," said Ross Porter, President and CEO of JAZZ.FM91. “Over the years, this series has put down roots in the Toronto jazz scene, and we're anticipating another entertaining and sold out season."

The Sound of Jazz Concert Series is proudly sponsored by Don Valley North Lexus, Churchill Cellars and Hakim Optical. Tickets are $35 each, and Series Subscriptions are also available for $300, with special discounts for students and JAZZ.FM91 Members.
