On August 25 pianist/organist Larry Goldings will play Film music at Vitello's 8pm-10p “I have long felt that film composers such as Nino Rota (Fellini), Bernard Herrmann (Hitchcock, Wells), and others have been overlooked, and I'm looking forward to presenting some interpretations of this music with an excellent quartet—Anthony Wilson (guitar), Josh Welchez (trumpet), Gabe Noel (bass), and Kevin Kanner (drums). Larry will be playing the recently acquired Steinway B at Vitello's.
My own writing has been influenced by film music, and we will also perform some of my more film-like material. Also represented will be Leonard Bernstein, Henry Mancini, and maybe a few surprises. With his signature Hammond organ style and versatility on many keyboards, Boston native Larry Goldings has traversed not only the wide spectrum of jazz where he is perhaps best known, but also the worlds of funk, pop, and electronic/alternative music.
