Los Angeles CA...Critically-acclaimed and award-winning singer/trumpeter Matt Von Roderick will debut new music and a fully-produced concert stage show, A Technicolor Experience, at King King in Hollywood on Monday, August 2 at 7pm. This unique combination of aural and visual delights is helmed by Kristin Hanggi, who developed and directed the lauded musical, Rock of Ages.

The concert will feature songs from Matt's upcoming full-length record, which remarkably mesh influences from the alternative and indie rock classifications with Matt's classic jazz virtuosity. The unusual collaboration of sounds lays a foundation for his equally textured vocals.

“an amalgamation of Miles Davis and Radiohead" (All About Jazz)

“a post-millennial Chet Baker" (The New York Times)

“innovative... striking and multidimensional music" (New Jersey Star Ledger)

“a top drawer trumpeter who also sings like an angel obscured by a storm cloud" (JazzTimes)

A product of the eclectic NYC scene and currently based in Los Angeles, Matt possesses a rare combination of commercial and progressive aesthetics, having toured internationally, recorded and/or collaborated with such diverse artists as: Neil Diamond, Musiq Soulchild, Brad Mehldau, Super Furry Animals, DJ Spinna, John Corigliano, Lenny Pickett, Robert Sadin, John Medeski from MMW, Complexions Dance Company, Skitch Henderson, and Nneena Freelon. His work as a performer has been featured on NBC's Saturday Night Live, the nationally syndicated presidential race coverage on MSNBC, and as both soloist and composer at Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Backing Matt are guitarists Jeremy Bieber and Brett Farkas, drummer Mike Bennett, and bassist Nando Raio, and Elysa Gomez. Ramona DuBarry and Celina Nightengale. The Dancing Dames of RubyBlues will be featured with the band as well as interactive projection by Sean Forrester. Opening the show are Rob Giles (from The Rescues) and Fay Wolf.

Director Kristin Hanggi developed and directed Rock of Ages, an 80's rock musical, for which she was nominated for 2009 Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Direction. She also helmed the Toronto, off-Broadway, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles productions of Rock of Ages, and the current production, now running on Broadway. Other productions include the Ovation, LA Weekly and Robby Award-winning pop opera BARE and the Pussycat Dolls Live at the Roxy with Christina Applegate, Carmen Electra and special guests Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, Brittany Murphy, Nikka Costa and Charlize Theron.

Choreographer Kelleia has worked with The Coen Brothers, Milos Forman, Robert Zemeckis, Bill Condon, Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Toni Braxton and Robin Williams. She performs with professional burlesque groups Cherry Boom Boom, Rouge and Harlow Gold.
