May 25, 2005 DC Veteran, Saxophonist, Perry Conticchio will speak his truth along with his newly re-formed Perry Conticchio Quartet to create a night of explosive jazz and improvisation guaranteed to leave your soul yearning for more. Join this band of seasoned professionals as they lead you through a night of complexities and rich harmonies, which will heighten your senses and enthrall your palette with flavors and colors beyond your imagination.

Conticchio’s latest CD is the result of many hours of introspection and soul searching that has delivered a masterfully inspired release called “Speak Your Truth,” consisting of 8 original Conticchio compositions and 2 contributions by fellow musicians Rodney Richardson (Rodney Richardson Quartet) and close friend Chris McMahon. The remaining two contributions taken from the jazz standard arena are; “I Can't Get Started," composed by Vernon Duke/Ira Gershwin and a Sam Rivers selection entitled “Fuscia Swing Song." The CD features Perry Conticchio (Sax), Rodney Richardson (Guitar), Lawrence “Bubbles” Dean (Drums), and Andrew Elliot Cox (Acoustic Bass), with special guests Joseph Brotherton (trumpet), and Wayne Wilentz (piano), each adorning two cuts.

Perry has been playing professionally along the East Coast for over 30 years. His formal studies were at Miami University of Ohio and Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied with Joe Viola, John LaPorta, and Charlie Mariano. Moving to the Washington, DC area in 1976, Perry became an established figure in the “new" music scene. During this time, he had the opportunity to perform with and learn from Don Cherry, Anthony Braxton, Sam Rivers, and many others. Perry’s high-energy solos and expressive mastery of jazz improvisation have continuously garnered respect from his peers and listeners.

Join this highly talented entourage of musicians as they present Perry Conticchio’s “Speak Your Truth” CD Release Party that will kick off a National promotion and release of the CD.
