West Coast Jazz Party promoters Joe Rothman and John McClure announce a Sunset Jazz Summer Series at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel in Orange County, California.
Featuring such renowned stars as drummer Jeff Hamilton, saxophonist Houston Person (pictured) and trumpeter Byron Stripling, concerts are scheduled each Wednesday evening, beginning July 7 though Aug. 25. Events will take place in the Marriott's outdoor Rose garden, with two sets scheduled at 6 p.m. and 7:30.
Kicking off the series, July 7, will be the Jeff Hamilton Trio. Following, July 14, will be saxophonist Harry Allen and his quartet; July 21, the Houston Person Quartet; July 28, singer Ernie Andrews with special guest, saxophonist Ricky Woodard; Aug. 4, guitarist Graham Dechter with his quartet, featuring Hamilton; Aug. 11, clarinetist Ken Peplowski and his quartet; Aug. 18, The Byron Stripling Quartet; Aug. 28, singer Dena DeRose with her trio with special guest, trombonist Dan Barrett.
