Monterey Jazz Festival and Monterey Bay Aquarium Announce Weekly Evenings by the Bay" Summer Concert Series

Performances Feature Live Jazz by Professional Musicians and Students in MJF's Jazz Education Programs, Saturday and Sunday Evenings, July 3 - September 5, 2010

Monterey, CA; The Monterey Jazz Festival is proud to announce the third year of the Evenings by the Bay" concert series, produced in collaboration with the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Taking place Saturday and Sunday evenings from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Aquarium's Marine Mammal Gallery from July 3 through September 5, the twenty-performance concert series features some of the Monterey Peninsula's most talented professional musicians, as well as student musicians in the Monterey Jazz Festival's Education Programs. Evenings by the Bay series provides a much-needed outlet for live music, and enhanced value and entertainment for Aquarium visitors, already an internationally-renowned destination for all ages.

Started in 2008, the concert series has brought live music to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for each summer, transforming an already exciting visit into something special, for both the visitors and the performers. The 2010 Concert Series will feature saxophonists Roger Eddy, Gary Meek and Stu Reynolds; trumpeter Dave Hoffman; pianists Bill Spencer and Michael Glick; bassist Pete Lips; and flautist Kenny Stahl. In addition, hand-selected students from MJF's Education Programs will also perform.

“This is a magical performance venue for local musicians, for both professional and non-professional students involved in our Jazz Education Programs," said Dr. Rob Klevan, Education Director of the Monterey Jazz Festival. All concerts will take place on the first floor in the Marine Mammal Galleries section of the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
