On Sunday, May 20th, guitarist Matt Richards will be featured during the Frankford Arts Festival in a solo acoustic performance at Goodfellas, 4601 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. Opening the show will be the acoustic guitar ensemble 24 Strings. The show is at 2:00pm. Admission is free.
By bringing fingerstyle guitar techniques to a blend of improvisation and structure, Matt creates a very personal solo guitar style. His experience with both acoustic and electric guitars in straight-ahead jazz, fusion and Latin settings provides the musical foundation upon which Matt builds each performance.
With his most recent release 'In This Single Moment' (MRC1001), Matt has earned the praise of fellow guitarists Larry Coryell, Richard Leo Johnson and Vic Juris and received critical comparisons to guitar legends Pierre Bensusan and Ralph Towner. Matt begins work on his next release 'Dayside' in June.
