Triple Bass Fantasy
New CD from Swedish indie label Kopasetic Productions

Triple Bass Fantasy: A Secret Sign Distribution: Naxos Sweden

A Secret Sign is the first CD by the Scandinavian group Triple Bass Fantasy. The record consists of newly composed original music by Swedish sax player Cennet Jonsson and free improvisations in a wild and unblushing mix performed by an unorthodox quintet. It features exciting grooves and strong melodies inspired by music from West Africa, Brazil and Cuba.

Triple Bass Fantasy is:

Cennet Jonsson - soprano & tenor saxophone, bass clarinet
Mattias Hjorth - double bass
Hans Andersson - double bass
Johnny Aman - double bass
Lisbeth Diers - drums, percussion, voice

“It started as a wild idea. A fantasy about a sound. How will it sound if I combine my saxes and three (excellent) double bass players? As a starting point I wrote a repertoire for the combination and hand-picked three of my favorite bass players and we did a few gigs. It turned out to good to be a one-off occasion! Eventually I invited Danish percussionist star Lisbeth Diers as featured guest at a festival. Wow! Her amazing performance made the difference! We will make a Scandinavian tour in February and we are very proud to present our first album: A Secret Sign. Welcome to my realized bass fantasy!"

--Cennet Jonsson

Review Quote

“The music is melodic. Jonsson attacks his saxes with a lyrical elegance and richness for nuances. The bassists play both rhythmically and serially, all the time with a pregnant elegance and Diers is as strikingly imaginative as always. The improvisations are very free, but they develop in nice concord. This is deeply original music." --Magnus Eriksson/Svenska Dagbladet

Praise for Cennet Jonsson

“Cennet is a mature musical thinker, writer and player and he has come up with captivating creative vehicles." --Michael Brecker

“Cennet makes the soprano saxophone sing. He is one of a few artists worldwide who are elevating the soprano to a higher level than previously." --David Liebman
