The Seattle Women's Jazz Orchestra (SWOJO) showcases the performance skills of leading female jazz artists in the Pacific Northwest. Our repertoire features many originals by Pacific Northwest composers and arrangers such as Nelda Swiggett, Jill Townsend, Al Farlow, Vern Sielert, Carmen Staaf, and SWOJO's Musical Director, Dr. Daniel Barry. SWOJO recently performed at Experience Music Project's Jazz in January series to a standing-room-only crowd and will appear later this year as part of Earshot's Art of Jazz at SAM series and at the Kirkland Performance Center's 2005 Concert Series. SWOJO's debut OA2 Records release, Dreamcatcher, appears on Jim Wilke's list of Best Northwest Jazz CDs of 2004 and was reviewed by Howard Mandel (President of the Jazz Journalists Association) in the March issue of Jazziz magazine (link to review: http://oa2records.com/oa2/reviews/review.php?ReviewID=58 ).
