The Andre Canniere Group has been creating a stir in the modern jazz scene since its formation in New York City in 2005. The group performs challenging yet accessible music full of evocative harmonic explorations and complex rhythms, complemented by thoughtful improvisation. Much of the music, all of which is composed by Canniere, is rooted in jazz, but also draws heavily upon other genres including pop, classical and folk music.

In 2008, Canniere relocated to London where he is now focusing on expanding the group's fan base to the UK and Europe. Shortly after arriving in England, Canniere and his group were invited to perform at the HSBC Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Members of the new UK based group have included saxophonist Mark Hanslip, drummer Chris Vatalaro, bassist Jasper Hoiby and pianist Ivo Neame. The group is currently working on new music for their next recording project and performing at some of London's top venues.

“Recommended"
-TimeOut London

“Canniere's compositions are a far cry from the staid template contained on many Jazz records... solo spaces that offer the most exciting moments, particularly the clean toned Canniere... Andre Canniere and his associates show a great deal of promise..."
-Jay Collins, Cadence Magazine

“Andr Canniere's debut is aural evidence that good things can descend from the Ivory Tower... transcends the stereotypes often associated with university trained musicians, the most common being that they 'think' the music rather than 'feel' it... As Of Yet is a strong opening statement from Canniere."
-Jason Crane, All About Jazz

“Canniere is at his best...long melodies that unfurl majestically before suddenly flaring up and melancholy ballads both sit easily on top of often complex rhythmic and harmonic patterns."
-Mwanji Ezana, be jazz

“Canniere's music is a blend of electric and acoustic sounds, open to the pop/rock attitude and phraseology with trades through the indie routes. His compositional style draws from several contemporary influences including Dave Douglas, Michael Brecker and Bill Frisell, as well as Radiohead, often refering to both large and small ensemble traditions."
-Vangelis Aragiannis, Jazz & Tzaz
