New CD Just Out… Danny Barrett/Indian Summer/DB004
CD Reviews Out of the depths of what sounds like a Verdi Baritone", comes vocalist Danny Barrett with his innate & natural sense of the interpretation of a song's lyric. Danny coaxes, nudges, & lovingly embraces his songs like the wind embraces the trees. Danny has a distinct, singular, and personal sound which I feel is underrated. I sense he has his supportive audiences whom I'm sure follow his talent with interest. Might I suggest to my readers that Danny Barrett covers the entire vocal spectrum in today's era.......from the renaissance to the contemporary. This is a mighty talent folks! We need him!! Support him!!! George W. Carroll/The Musicians' Ombudsman E Jazznews
O's Notes: We hadn't heard the name, Danny Barrett, but when we popped in this CD, we certainly heard his rich baritone vocals. It is reminiscent of Johnny Hartman and Billy Eckstine, two of his influencers. He has his own signature, that of a swinging, crooner with true pitch and clear articulation. The songs are embellished further by strong performances the musicians including Dave Valentin (fl), Billy Drummond (d) and arranger Bill O'Connell (p). An excellent example of this union is on Blue Gardenia".
