The Berkeley High Jazz Program, once home to Joshua Redman, Dave Ellis, Ambrose Akinmusire, Peter Apfelbaum, Michael Wolff, Benny Green and many others, is a national model of instrumental education. The proceeds from this event will help the school continue the jazz programs and provide much needed funds for the ensemble to travel to many upcoming national and international jazz festival competitions. Jazz On 4th Street has collected over $125,500 for the music program since the Festival's inception.
Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble Parent Coordinator Ivan Meyerson says, Without people who recognize the importance of this program, we would not be able to keep this standard of playing available to anyone at BHS. Scott Dailey has taken on this incredibly dynamic program with real passion and commitment. It is only with the continued commitment and support from Jazz on 4th Street that we are able to present students with the challenges to motivate them and reward their serious commitment to their playing and music."
JAZZ MAFIA QUINTET WITH CRYSTAL MONEE HALL (1:15pm - 2:00pm)

The group features a cast of many musical characters including trombonist Adam Theis, vocalist and drummer Joe Bagale and many others. Vocalist Crystal Monee Hall combines the sounds of folk, gospel, jazz and blues to make this group a powerhouse jazz experience.
ZAKIYA HOOKER (2:15pm - 3:00pm)
Zakiya Hooker is quite familiar with the blues. You could even say she had a front-row seat to view the best the genre had to offer, right in her own living room. Her dad was the renowned blues giant John Lee Hooker. A strong and versatile vocalist, Zakiya has a silky, milky, rich voice that captures the essence of traditional and modern blues styles.
FITO REINOSO (3:00pm - 3:45pm)
For over a decade, Fito Reinoso has made the Bay Area his home and is the only Cuban born based sonero in the area performing a variety of styles, from the most recent urban Havana grooves to timba" to the classic son and cha-cha-cha, Fito's band plays primarily original music, composed by Fito and inspired by contemporary Cuban rhythms. The orchestra plays more traditional Cuban genres such as son-montuno, cha-cha-cha, and bolero but always with a sound that is authentic.
