The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd St.), Times Square's landmark concert venue, is pleased to present Lizz Wright and Richard Bona on Friday April 9 at 8:00PM. Southern singer-songwriter Lizz Wright's distinct mixture of jazz, folk, gospel and R&B has earned favorable comparisons to Anita Baker, Regina Belle, Cassandra Wilson and Tracy Chapman by The New York Times. Her 2003 debut album Salt introduced Wright as both an accomplished songwriter and an effortlessly magnetic performer, delivering subtly persuasive vocal performances in understated jazz/ R&B settings. The New York Times praised Wright as an “astonishing maturity and poise" and wrote that she “stirs jazz, gospel and rhythm and blues into a reflective, flowing style that elongates songs into prayerful mediations that new wander into vagueness" and described her singing as “pitch-perfect, with a smoky, full-bodied texture... impressive in its steadiness, control and rhythmic subtlety."

Wright will be joined at The Town Hall by Grammy-nominated bassist Richard Bona. Universally recognized for his blending of jazz, bossa nova, pop, afro-beat, traditional song and fun, Bona has collaborated with Harry Belafonte, Bobby McFerrin and John Legend, among others.

Lizz Wright and Richard Bona is part of The Town Hall 2010 season that includes Brian Stokes Mitchell (April 17) and the hit series Broadway By The Year (Musicals of 1927 on February 22nd, Musicals of 1948 on March 22nd and Musicals of 1966 on May 10th, Musicals of 1990-2010 on June 14th ). The complete 2010 season is available as a subscription series, or individually, with subscriptions available now directly from The Town Hall.

Built in 1921 by a group of suffragettes, The Town Hall began as a lecture hall and public forum for debates. Over the decades, the stage has been graced by Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, Billie Holiday, Igor Stravinsky, Bob Dylan and Miles Davis. Today the hall flourishes as a popular, affordable venue, boasting the hottest acts in rock, pop, folk, cabaret, world music, comedy and dance, including Billy Joel, Blondie, Elvis Costello, Natalie Merchant, Graham Nash, Liza Minnelli, Cyndi Lauper, Norah Jones, Andre Watts, Henry Rollins, Joe Jackson, Pink Martini, Regina Spector, Brian Adams, Aimee Mann and Dawn Upshaw.
