Dan Moretti to Russia 3/14-18/01

SOURCE: Published: 2001-02-16
Shure Microphones and Berklee College of Music in Boston have come together to sponsor Rhode Islands own jazz saxophonist, Dan Moretti, to attend the “Jazz nad Volgoy" ("Jazz over the Volga River") from the ancient Russian City of Yaroslavl. The festival has been taking place in Yaroslavl for twenty years. The next festival will take place in March 14-18, 2001. Dan Moretti will be the only solo jazz performer to participate from the United States. This comes on the heels of Dans national release Once Through and his upcoming band release The Psychic Horns.

As an accomplished sax player, composer, producer, and audio engineer, Dan Moretti has written, and performed, his own works to audiences from Russia to the US, India, and back. He has performed with artists across the spectrum of music; Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, The Temptations, Mike Stern, Dave Samuels, Johnny Mathas, Dave Liebman, Marvin Stamm, Jimmy Cob, Ernie Watts, Walter Booker, and The Crusaders just to name a few.

Dan is an artist-clinician and an associate professor in The Contemporary Writing and Production department at Berklee College of Music.
