Dallas Jazz Vocalist Carolyn Lee Jones at Sandaga Jazz

Dallas, TX Vocalist Carolyn Lee Jones announced today that she will perform at Sandaga Jazz with her group, the Carolyn Lee Jones Quintet on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 8:30 pm. The event will take place at Sandaga Jazz, 1325 East Levee St. in Dallas, Texas. Admission is a $10 donation at the door; BYOB and light refreshments available.

Born and raised in Nebraska, Carolyn Lee Jones is an accomplished Dallas-based vocalist whose main ingredients are an outstanding repertoire of songs from the Great American Songbook, contemporary popular tunes with a jazz sensibility, and terrific musicians to back her up. Performing in Dallas, New York City and abroad, her smooth vocal style is open, easy, and classy. Whether she is singing upbeat popular tunes, swinging jazz standards, or beautiful ballads, Ms. Jones embraces her audience and the music with heart.

Joining Ms. Jones for this performance are a band of top musicians on the Dallas jazz scene today including Bernard Wright on piano, Shelley Carrol on tenor and flute,Yuka Tadano on bass, and Andrew Griffith on drums. They will offer an exciting and eclectic range of jazz selections that run the gamut from up-tempo and swinging to ballads and Bossa Nova rhythms, and jazz interpretations of popular music. Also included will be selections from Ms. Jones recent CD, Bon Appetit.

Sandaga Jazz offers a nightclub atmosphere filled with jazz and sophistication. It has served its guests with some of the greatest and latest jazz musicians known to the world. One of its most recent guests is the notable trumpet player, Wynton Marsalis. Sandaga Jazz is a branch of Sandaga Market Art Gallery and Sandaga Youth is a 501-c3 non-profit.
